Volunteering Barnet Honours its Volunteers in a Milestone Celebration

A gala event took place at Hendon Town Hall on the 4th of June, 4pm to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Volunteers’ Week.

Entitled Tea with The Mayor; this special Thank You celebration invited 29 nominated volunteers from organisations and charities across Barnet; personally thanking them for giving their time and skills to assist their community.

In the bright, inviting environment of the Civic Room; The Worshipful the Mayor of the London Borough of Barnet, Councillor Tony Vourou gave a fantastic speech on community involvement; then presented certificates to the volunteers who exemplified this wonderful undertaking.

Convened by Volunteering Barnet, this special occasion marked 40 years of celebrating volunteers in the Volunteers’ Week initiative.

Since its establishment in 1984, as Volunteering England, hundreds of online and in-person activities have taken place across the UK to mark Volunteers’ Week and celebrate volunteers. Volunteering Barnet marked this milestone with a personal thank you and a chance for volunteers to mingle in a jubilant atmosphere.
