Foodbank Digital Champion Volunteers
2nd April 2024
Foodbank Digital Champion Volunteers play a crucial role in bringing digital support directly to communities who are digitally excluded.
Once a week, the digital champions spend an hour at their local foodbank to provide basic admin support, teach foodbank users how to use different devices, assist with referrals/ signposting to local and national services and support with data management. Not only are the volunteers equipped with resources and CPD-accredited training to help build their confidence in providing support to various communities, they build strong community relationships and satisfaction from giving back to the community.
All you need to have is basic IT skills, the ability to adapt and the willingness to help others.
You’re never alone!
As a volunteer of the foodbanks, you’ll have the wonderful foodbank team there to support you on a day-to-day basis and access to a wider virtual network of digital champions from across the borough. In addition to all this, you can always reach out to the Food Development Officer to have a 1-2-1 chat in the week.
To date, we’ve had 23 individuals show interest in the opportunity and 3 foodbanks preparing to roll out the support before the end of March 2024. It’s been an exciting journey so far and we just know it’s going to get better from here on, thanks to the wonderful volunteers.
