How to register with us

We’re really pleased that so many people are interested in volunteering with us. To help you find the right information quickly, we’ve explained below how volunteering works depending on your age.

If You’re 16 or Over

If you’re 16 years old or over, you can register directly with Volunteering Barnet. Once you’re registered, you’ll be able to:

Browse all of our current volunteering opportunities
Filter roles to match your interests, availability and location
Apply directly for any roles you’d like to do

Volunteering Opportunities for Young People Include:

Sports coaching support
Befriending roles
Holiday activity support
Event volunteering

Please note that these roles change regularly and may not always be available. However, we update our volunteering database regularly, so do check back often to see what’s new!

If You’re Under 16

You won’t be able to register on our database if you’re under 16. Instead, please get in touch with us directly here; so we can let you know if anything suitable is available. We have a small number of volunteering opportunities suitable for young people aged 14–15, but please remember that these are:

Limited in number
Occasional – not available all year round
Dependent on what organisations are offering at the time

If You’re Under 14

Unfortunately, we’re not able to support or place volunteers under the age of 14. For younger children, we recommend exploring opportunities through schools, local community groups or youth organisations.

Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Volunteering

If you’re working towards your Duke of Edinburgh Award, the DofE website is a great place to start. It includes:
